Anyone had any issues with the fuel gage reading empty all the time? Mine failed on a 98 SRX with 5000 miles. Maybe someone has had this problem and can steer me in the right direction for a fix.

Check your wiring harness that runs under the engine and up to the handlebars. They had a problem with them rubbing thru and shorting out the gauges and instrument cluster. Check it out, and I'll bet thats your problem. Good luck!

what a gas guage sending unit is a varible resistor, it affects the amount of current fed back to ground, so what you need to do is stick something in the tank like a coat hanger bent in a small hook and get ahold of the sending unit float arm, now after you have that, unplug the 2 wire connector at fuel tank, using a digital ohm meter, check the ohms at full and empty by raising the float arm/ lowering it. if it ohms differnt readings its ok.If not you found your culprit
Now say your ok there, you need to use the digital voltmeter on the green/black wire going to sending unit and start up sled, put meter on "V" 20k scale and see if you show voltage coming to sending unit????

This all of course is assuming the sled has not 1 other issue like dimming lights, cutting out when bumpy sectins of trail, etc, because the recomendation of the wire harness is usually about 85 percent of electrical problems on a yamaha sled.
