Hey guys. Just came from my first ride of the year...and now I have two small issues.

The sled is a 97 vmax 600sx

#1 The hyfax on the right side of my sled is wearing down a helluva lot quicker than on the left side...these are brand new hyfax. I only put on about 80 km today, did the proper heat cycling, and it looks like there is only an 1/8th on an inch left before the wear line on the right side and 1/4" on the left side. Help?

#2 Sounds like my primary is making a squeeking noise at idle. I dunno if it is the belt rubbing against the primary or what?

TIA.

Jim

question #2 if your belt is new or a little too tight, adjust the belt deflection by removing a washer under each of the three bolts on the back side of the secondary. this will loosen up the belt a little and cause it to ride lower in your secondary. should eliminate the squeal at idle. about #1 make sure your track is adjusted evenly and make sure the rubber on the right side idler wheels are not worn off. also if your limiter straps are not pulled up evenly, it can cause wear on the side that is lower.

There are three "wearing" screws in your secondary clutch, you can see them on the backside of your secondary, if these screws are worn the sheaves on the secondary will move closer to each other when the clutch "rests" and this mill make your belt tighther and causes a squeel. Easy fix, only takes a few minutes to change the screws. Have to get them from a dealer though, unless you know the correct (new) lenght and is able to round them off at the tip, but, buy them from a dealer, doesn`t cost more then a soda can, hehe.

If your clutches are out of alignement (to far away from each other, making the belt tight, the belt could squeel).

I just wanted to tell you this:).
