The primary got grooved some how on my srx700. I'd say its .060 deep, and that is too much to machine off. Anyone have a primary that is groove free, don't need any of the guts.
Are clutches off of any other machine compatible. This is the last problem I have to fix, after changing, drivers, gearing, suspension setup everything else works great.

The grooves are normal from using the hard 8dn belt. As long as there are not any cracks in the shives the clutch is perfectly fine for trail riding.

I switched to an ultimax 3 now, so it doesn't happen in the future. Turk, it seems like it hurts you out of the whole with those grooves. Are you saying I shouldn't get myself a new clutch?
I do like to drag race this machine alot also. Are most yamaha primary's interchangable?

The ultimax 3 will lower rpm,s; especially on holeshot. Ususally about 2-300 rpm. Those grooves won,t make a noticeable diff on a trail sled.

Also the sheaves are interchangeable on sleds of the same year or couple years. Check the parts listings available on line for part numbers to verify.
