Hey guys I'm on this site all the time and I don't hit this section much even though I own an 02 srx and love it (its my second one) A friend of mine wants to put 11.5" proaction shocks in his 01 and I was wondering if someone had insight and setup on this. I've gotten as far as knowing he needs the front shock extenders from Advant-edge or someone else but nothing on setup, re-valving if any, and overall performance differences. Any feedback would be appreciated.

also looking for Pioneer motorsports number in NY heard they revalve the viper shocks for an srx application.

do a search, there are lots of threads on this subject. shock extensions will only work for ohlins shocks (front ski shocks). the rear viper shocks and spring assys bolt right in. you will need a limiter strap adjustment, and transfer rod replacement or spacers to lengthen them. thats it in a nutshell. ski

I put the viper non updated's on my 98 SRX, I did lenghten the transfer rods. On the front I'm running long travel Work's shocks & Viper trailing arms, you get an extra inch of front end height from the arms. I run the Full range adjuster on the softest setting. I weigh 170 #'s and am very happy with the ride! You might want to try the shocks before spending the $'s on having them revalved. Good luck!!

exactly.
I weigh 180 and did the exact same thing
fra set to stiff setting, I could NOT keep the inside ski down on any turn, no matter how slow, moved it to the softer setting ( closest to pivot shaft) and it now corners on rails, and made the effective rate of the shock softer ( hense the FRA - full rate adjuster ;)
I added 10mm shaft extenders to the bottom of the transfer rods, and slid the bolts through them and into the transfer rod threads. this got me to an acceptable gap on the bottom(7-10mm spec) and then i made some nylon spacers to get the top within spec.
I did not revalve these "stiffer" shocks and they work great.

I also did the poor man's front shock adjustment. I kept my stock front shocks. I swapped (left and right)and flipped over the front top brackets. I had to do some grinding to clear the shock and add acouple washers behind one bolt to dial in the angle. This raised the front about 1" to equalize with the rear height increase. some have tweaked the camber on the skis, i did not mess with that.

hope this helps

bethe viper,
i was refering to myself :D :D :D
since I am Dutch (cheap) and all..... chosing to do the swap, instead of buying brackets.

I failed to give you credit for the idea, sorry

i wouldnt bother (with new brackets) when you can do a flip reverse and get about the same thing.
