I thought I would share a set of photos with the forum.
A buddy of mine is rebuilding a 1985 Vmax. The first thing done was a compression test: Right cyl 125psi left cyl 50psi. Here is what he found
This broken pice of the casting made the head o-ring blow out into the coolant passage. You could see coolant blow out of the spark plug hole when trying to start it.

if the crack doesn't go though to the cylinder wall and is just that chunk missing i would take the cylinder to a good machine or weld shop they could fix you up cheap and quick.
