Obviously the outer bearings are located by the pin in the cases. My question regards the center bearing, did I just miss it in the manual.... The locating pins for the center bearings just ride in the cutouts in the case halves correct?
The good news is that if all goes well I may have this thing reassembled in the same year that I blew it up, although time is running out on that dream.

ok, one side of the 2 center crank bearings sits in the cut outs for dowel pin hole, ((they all sit in either the dowel holes, or case recesses)) but the pto side of engine uses a half split ring to secure the load side of the bearing, the 98-99 srx have 4 of these, the 2000-02 has 3, try to offset them slightly in the cases so they bite into the top and bottom of case when assembled.
got the the split rings, further digging in the earlier SXR book reveals some blah blah blah about a labrynith(sp) seal and a really poor diagram that is no help at all.
the case halves have an indent/depression at the seam that the pins fit in quite nicely, this means the center pins end up rotated about 90 degress from the end bearing pins in the cases (right???)
I think we are both saying the same thing.
