My friend just put modblaster psi pipes on his mountain max 700. He had it jetted and clutched as well as adding reed spacers. I have a stock version of the same sled. We had a drag race across a lake and I beat him. So we did it again and I beat him again,, how can this be??? Arn't pipes and reed spacers sposed to make your sled faster??
Are we doing something wrong or does it just give you more power through out your rpm's? Any comments would be great

I have read that PSI pipes work at 9200 rpm peak....That really is not a good combo for your sled. Tha Yamaha MM produces it's best performance at 8800rpm. Your pal is losing in HP in my opinion. Now having said that I would look seriously at his secondary...sounds like his preload is not set. I had this similar example happen to me with a new 600 Polaris. you should need help to put your secondary back together after you change settings. The twist is an extra 1/3rd. I learned the hard way. Pooolaris pie is what I had to eat. Without wanting to learn so quickly, I have. I run SLP's. I have run Benders before that. No complaints with either. I have a pal who runs stock and he can not hold a candle to mine...so something is wrong. Usually though we are in the powder playing when the difference is extreme.

I have a 2001 600 SXR with modblasters it runs at 9200 with no problems, but your problem may be clutching, I got the pipes and clutching from Maximum Performance maybe they can offer some help they were lots of help when setting up my sled, this is my third winter with this setup, 12000km later and no problems, 700 stock SXR can't catch me.
