what kind of gas milege shoud a 2000 sxr 500 get ,its seems to be hard on gas and the power or speed aint there what kind of speed does a 500 get and gas milege,thanks for any help

Our 2 '00's got 10 and 11mpg, with stock clutching would hit 100mph on the speedo.
Milage and oil consumption can be helped a ton if you're willing to pick up a tempaflow and run good oil

VMJ is the fuel miser. I ride with 3 500's and not one of them gets more than 75 miles to a 12 gal tank (01'sxr500 and 2 96XT-500's). 6 - 8 mpg if we are lucky. The 500s are also able to keep up with any sled in the trails. If you put 96 studs up the middle your gonna stick to anyone like glue. However, on the GPS not one has busted 95mph. With the right clutching I bet you make it one fun sled. But stock it needs lots of help. Doug
