so-i finally got to change the toasted 600srx engine,found me a 600 from -98(mine is/was a -99),lifted the old one out-new one in(ignition coils,servo,cables e.t.c was included).
all went smoothly, except i forgot to mark the wires-wich gave me some well needed excersise later...
i cleaned the powervalves, checked that they were moving freely and cleaned the carbs.
after some(a couple hundred)pulls on the starter,i swapped the wires to the ignitioncoils and the t.o.r.s and it fired right up!
went out for a ride, sounded allright-good throttle response e.t.c,hard to tell about the performance in the soft snow we got(50 cm)christmaseve though.
when the trails got better some days later i noticed that it would not pull the right rpm,i added some rivets two years ago to get rid of the nasty overrev i had-after that ive always had 8200-8300 spot on-now it only pulled 7800-8000 at best...i thought-great,suckered again-probably got some piece of crap as always..
back to the garage and found the servo not working properly, just some minor "twitching",got the one from my old engine, adjusted the powervalves as stated in techpages, and talk about day and night difference-this thing runs like a scorched beaver, rpm:s went up to 8400-8500 so now i have to look over the clutching again...
sorry for the long post-just wanted to share my powervalve experience
