I have a 01 SRX with Hauck kit installed. I had to get the clutch off to get at the speedo gear. Anyway, I finally got the belt off but there has to ba an easier way. I had the track up. I tried pushing on the back flange of the clutch while rotating clockwise and it wouldn't open. Some people say they can push it open with one hand. Just wondering how you guys go about it.

That's all I do. Grab the helix, and sometimes the moveable sheave if it's stiff, turn it clockwise, and push it in. Works everytime. Not sure about the Hauck kit but it may make it stiffer if you can't get it open.
This is done with the track down however. Otherwise you would be rotating the track with it suspended in the air and you would be turning the clutch on the jackshaft, not opening the secondary. Good luck

I have Benders clutch kit for ported SRX's and there aint no way I can open the secondary by hand. I had to get the EZ change belt tool from Maxximum.
P.S. I smoke alot and only lift Miller Lites so that may have something to do with it too.

You gotta practice. My Turbo RX-1 runs about double the secondary spring pressure. You just gotta twist the secondary clockwise & push in all at the same time. With a little practice it is easy.

I too have a Bender secondary spring and it's not easy to spread the clutch apart!! In the garage maybe but if I blow a belt in the middle of the lake forget it! Because you have nothing to push against, your feet just slide on the ice. I made one of those tools ejcamaro mentioned out of 1/4" stainless steel, there's not much too it. It works perfect.
