What are the best manifolds to use for the 38mm Mach Z carbs. What about cables?

phazer intakes bolt right on, you can either run a boost bottle or block off the holes with plugs. As far as cables go, you need the mach z cable and throttle housing, the yamaha throttle housing would not move fully to wide open, the ratio of the lever is differnt, the yamaha one had wide open at 1/2 movment of lever.

phazer boots/boost bottle
BTW- I have a ported set of boots with aluminum boost bottle for this set up, I really dont know what its worth?? Also have aluminum spacer rings to adapt stock yamaha 33mm carbs to work with these bigger boots, the phazer boots are straighter then srx and help in delivery.

i have 38mm mach carbs on my 835 srx. i use stock 33mm boots - no problem.
used a die grinder to remove some rubber on the inside. doesn't need much off. i also use stock lever & housing. you do need a different cable. call bender racing - they have it.

Thanks alot bob. So you just cut the bracket that holds the throttle cable off the 38's, and replaced with one off of a SRX?

don't cut any brackets. remove the mach cable & replace with the one from benders. grinding the boots is optional - not necessary. if you do, fit the boot on the carb & from the engine side of the boot look @ the 4 corners. you will notice some flow restriction. mark & grind out to improve flow. bender also has clamps to hold the carbs in the boots better. to mount airbox: pull out all 3 rubber air horns. cut off the piece that goes over the bell of the carb. put air horn in backwards ( internal big lip on the outside of air box ). air box will slip on & off with ease.
