I have a 01 sx600r and pulled the left grip off while hill climbing. I pushed it back on but now the grips do not work. I noticed some pieces of red plastic that appears to be broken underneath. Is the heating unit seperate from the grip? How do you replace this? Does the rivet need to be drilled out? I did not find the grips listed in the parts file. I appreciate the assitance.

It doesnt take much to brake the heater in the grips. Ripping it off might of done a couple of things... check that all the connections are still tight. You might of disconnected one or more wires so check that out. If still nothing you might need to replace it. I've done this 4 times so I found the best way is to drill out the rivet take off all the old grip. Make sure the bars are clean and dry and warm. Take 1 hour epoxy and with a paint brush cover all the inside of your new grip as well as the bars with a LIGHT coating of epoxy. then slide the grip on slowly. watch out cause your gonna push most of the epoxy out so have rags ready. then let dry in a warm place overnight (atleast) make sure the grip is twisted the correct way with the wire out of your way. I dont replace the rivet cause I never had to. this holds them on good. I think a new hotgrip is about $40 Cdn so they are cheap, aftermarket ones are available also.
