hey all,
after cleanin my carbs and doin the power valves which didnt cure my idle problem along with the problem of it not revving all the way out to 8400 rpms at WOT, i had to finally break down and bring it to the shop. someone threw a mickey mouse clutch kit in there before i bought it so it needed some serious tuning, and i was in over my head...just couldnt wrap my little brain around all that clutch stuff!
now here's my question, im headed up to pittsburg NH this thursday through sunday. keep in mind this is my first sled....i was just hoping some of you vets can give a newbie like me some pointers? have all the gear already, just wondering if theres any advise you guys can give me.

only drive fast over a trail that u alredy drove on that way ull know for any holes or anything else that ,\might kill you. check you throttle before starting, make sure you have good brakes . Dress warm but dont over drees, wool socks not cotton, dont try and be a rambo on your 1st ride take ur time youll get better at it over time
watch out for other people on the trails, stick to the right side, and always remember that there are other on the trail that u have to respect to, theres race tracks and other places to drive fast
happy trails

bring a map of the area your gonna ride - or gps, unless you already know the area. it's not too hard to get lost- especially over here in maine anyways. the trail signs aren't always accurate.
so what did they end up doing to your sled to fix the high idle hang and the underrev?? or have you gotten it back yet? i'm curious to know because mine still does it.

it turned out that when i put the fuel screws back in, i mixed up the position of the washer and o-ring on one of them which apparently was enough of a screw-up to make that one carb leaner than the other 2. still does it a bit, but not as badly as before. the guy i brought it to has a cat triple, and said that his sled does it from time to time to. dont flame on me to badly here, but he attributed it to the 10% ethanol around here, and he claims that up north his problem is non-existant....

oh,
and stop for gas at every town. (everyone does) at least we have to in Upper Michigan. you do not want to run out 20 miles from civilization.
typical mileage for a tank is 120 miles or so.......some more, some less(skidoos)
and don't follow to close to your buddy. they will stop on a dime and the last thing you want to do as a rookie is smash their sled. ) and your new sled too )
get a heated shield for your helmet. nothing worse than a frosted shield and trying to keep up with the buddies.
oh... have fun

I have heard horror stories about burning gasoline with 10% ethanol, it causes the engine to run somewhere around 10% leaner than with regular gasoline so a guy needs to take that into consideration when jetting
