i have a 97 sx 700 big bored to 800 and just got the head shaved so the comp ratio is at 15.45:1,,,what kind of fuel should i use......c12 or c14
should i mix with premium or straight????also have porting done...seroisly fast machine before i got the head done by bender......c14 is for comp ratios over 14:1 and c12 is for comp ratios under 14:1.....help

Sol, Your thinking way to hard about this. With comp. that high use the best fuel you can get your hands on. Hope your not trail riding that machine. Don't mix. --mac--

I wouldnt be surprised at all if that engine lost power on top end. It probably will have more low end power, but since its ported, are the exhaust ports raised or just have been widened. Did you do the compression ratio calulations yourself. Or did Bender give you a number off the top of their head?

I read that benders big bore 800 kit does not raise compression ratio too much, as it raises the cylinders with a spacer gasket the head is cut to match. they say it's trail reliable with 91 octane gasoline...........

the sled is originally for trail yet i race it and i just got the head back with benders spec comp ratio of 15:1 so i just picked up c14 vp fuel.....i am wanting to go full pro stocker soon.....just wondering if i should continue going to bender or finding a performance shop closer to saskatchewan because i will wnat to change the trail proting to full race porting....and of couse take off the bender pipes and find race pipes........gotta go faster...
any ideas??

just got off the phone with justin at bender and he says thats the most im going to get out of this motor.......that kinda sucks.....i think i will find another place to ry get some engine work done......other than bender.
its like they just gave up on this sled...dont know why i just finished a $ 2000.00 dollar bill with them......go figure.....any help people?

justin is correct. in my opinion he is one of the best & most honest engine builders out there. the 800 is a very fast trail sled. don't try to reinvent the wheel. anything else you try to do will probably loose power. my 800 has run 122 mph in trail form with a 1" track in 2000'. thats about 8 mph faster than other trail mod 800's, & it has reverse ( go to nbssr web site under results for the proof ).
