viper guys would you go to a rx-1 (2003) or stay with your viper? I'm looking at upgrading from my 1999vmax600trip. to a 03 viper er or rx-1. Both are near perfect. 1500 miles each and the viper is about $1000.00 less money. Not that that has alot of anything to do with decision. All my freinds ride the vipers and I would like to keep up this year. Would you ride a viper with them or 4 stroke it? thanks

From my position as a "Viper Guy", and this is merely my opinion, I would not go to an RX1 with the exception of maybe an 05' because of the monoshock. While you are getting the four stroke advantages from the 03' as well as the higher power output, I don't feel that you are gaining much in the suspension category. The skid is pretty much the same and the first gen a-arm setup will not corner like the Viper without some help. I guess with the two sleds you are considering (both e-start with reverse and I'm assuming equal condition) it comes down to engine preference. As a current Viper owner I intend to go 4 stroke in 2-3 years, but nothing less than the current Apex. For me the rider forward wins out, as well as what I feel to be a better mix of handling, bump control, and a superior engine over the original RX1. ;)!

Viper all the way! I had a '03 RX-1 and traded at the end of the season for a carryover '03 Viper...couldn't get rid of the RX-1 one ton fast enough. Rx-1 rides like a log on skis, can't turn either.
