Hi. I've been doing some reading for the last couple days. Nice site. I'd like some advice on what sled I should buy. I will have at most $3000 to spend but I haven't decided yet whether or not I want to even spend that much. I was thinking about getting an SRX700 until I read on here that it's not the greatest for trail riding. I want something with power valves for sure that's really fast, but also good on trails. I'll be mostly riding it on trails around the vicinity of Cadillac MI. Any advice is greatly appreciated. :rocks:

You can still get the SRX and long travel the rear. Lots of power and fast.
A well set up SXR will give you great power for trail riding and has the long travel suspension.

I would say a viper would be a nice choice. Not sure about the venom. Isn't it just a 600 cc viper or there other differences. I am waiting for polaris to put there 600 HO in the IQ RMK classic chassis with 128" M-10. Right now it is offered with the 138 HP 700(755)

It will be hard to find a viper for $3000.00. But if you do.. BUY IT FAST.

Even if you went to a sx700r. Its not powervalved but they are very fast and you would already have the suspension you need. Get into one of those if you look hard enough for $2500.00.

I mainly ride mountain trails and some off trail. I have a couple of SRX's, one with 121" x 1 1/2 lug track and the other a 136" x 1 1/2. On a groomed trail they are great, hold the corners excellent and seem to be very quick on acceleration. On a rough trail they are not too comfortable for very long. Where I find their main weakness if off trail - the front clearance is about the size of your fist and the 121" track is totally helpless in any snow depth.

Each has over 3000 miles and the engines seem to be very reliable. I have had to replace drive bearings and a busted track drive shaft. The hyfax at the front curve seems to wear fairly quick (1200 miles or so).

I don't know how that compares to the Viper's performance.

Hey thanks a lot for the replies. What are the SXR's listed as on NADA? For the SRX700 they have SRX700F - 696cc. then they list SX500F - 494cc, SX600F - 593cc and SX700F - 698cc for 2001 but I don't see an SXR listed. This is for 2001. Am I missing something? Or are those last 3 the SXR???
