Removing SRX airbox dividers?

I was curious if anyone has ever removed the vertical airbox dividers in an SRX? I understand that removing the shelves can have an adverse effect on the performance so I will be leaving them in, but are there any possible jetting considerations that I have to make if I take the dividers out? I am currently running a 98 SRX, mega power heads, hauck pipes, cold air intake and jetted at 152.5 straight across and 47.5 pilots and 2 turns out on the screws. Thanks! :rocks:

Any other mods?

Anyone else do any type of airbox mods, i.e. drilling holes in top shelf, etc? Are airbox mods required for effective use of aftermarker parts such as heads, pipes, porting etc? I notice the Viper doesn't use airbox dividers? Does the bone stock SRX airbox have a enough capacity to flow higher HP engines, particularly at altitude?

I've got holes drilled in the top shelf of my airbox. Seems to work well. I have one airbox that had the vertical dividers in it, whereas the one I run now does not even have slots to put them in. I think the 98 and 99s came with the vertical dividers, and the newer ones did not. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have almost the same set up as you including the megapower heads but stock silencer. I also have trail porting and a tempaflow. My airbox is gutted with the dividers gone. I was jetted at 152.5,151.3,151.3 and ran over a 1750 miles without a problem. I feel that I maybe to rich and was thinking of dropping to 150,148.8,148.8. The jetting I was running was 4 sizes greater then stock jetting for a 2000 srx. I will now be two sizes richer then the stock specs. I will check my plugs and piston wash to see how it looks before I do any long rides with it. If anyone else has the same setup I would be interested in knowing how they are jetted. I recall hearing of people running stock jetting with a guuted airbox without any problems. They would tape the holes over if the outside temps dropped to low.

This is an interesting point. Is this true that the 2000 and later did not have dividers? It almost sounds like I could chuck the dividers???
