why is it when i put a stiffer spring on my primary the idle gets all messed up.idles around 1700 when i first start the sled. but when i take her for a spin idle goes to 4,000. idles down eventualy but takes a long time.what causes this.anyone. its a thundershift spring.has one more coil then stock spring.

i wouldn't think your primary spring would effect your idle speed- your engagement speed- yes. it sounds like the typical high idle hang- which is, from what i've learned on here, a lean condition in your pilot circuit. my viper does the same thing once it's warmed up and the supposed fix is to turn your fuel screws out 1/4 turn. i haven't done it yet to mine- haven't had time to pull the carbs out.
