To m10 or not to m10

I know everyone says they slow you down, but how much? Is the ride hieght adjustable?

I can get an m10 with 200 miles on it for 400 bucks. I'd rather have an expert x, but I'll have to spend another 800 for one.

Is there any negatives to the m10, other then speed loss, and is there any way around it. Its for my 01 srx700.

You will loose top end speed, 100mph is fast enough for me. The only other negative I see is the weight transfer is not good. Watch out for the older FOX shocks, they had alot of problems with the shocks over heating and fading. If you dont take it for 400.00 bucks let me know I sure would.

O.k i have had mulitlpe M-10's on 3 sleds and it is the best plain and simple i live in the city of the M-10 where they were made and my buddy machines all the parts it yes takes away your weight transfer but more traction great you lose a little top speed 2-3 mph thats it and the handling through the woops is crazy . BEST REAR SUSPENSION MADE.

I put the no revalved viper shocks in the rear of my srx and then moved the front shocks down using the Hauck shock relocation brackets. Didn't slow it down/didn't seem to slow it down and made a huge difference in the ride. one the other hand the m10 is a great price for 400. :rocks:
 
If you ride aggressive I say NO WAY. I have had Expert and M10 and am back to the proaction. Both hurt performance significantly. M10 to be is good if you ride slow. It was nice a plush, and you could roll through the whoops, but, if you pushed it in rough stuff you still got the piss beat out of you. And transfer, horrible!!!!!!!!!!! I was putting 10 more HP to the track on my 01 srx than my buddies 99 srx and he could beat me in a drag race every time. Huge performance disadvantage I thought. The expert was better, but still hurt overall performance. I thought it rode comprable to the M10 but they were both the same way, good at moderate speeds but were no better than the Pro action if your runnin hard. The expert transfered too much. I put the Expert in and lost at least 6 sled lengths in 1000' drag race changing nothing else. I took it out and put my PA back in and instantly gained my 6 lengths back. It felt faster because it wheelies with the Expert, but it really slowed it down. Spend some time dialing in your PA and save your money is my advice. Your welcome to call me with questions.

I totally disagree, the M-10 suspension will out perform the pro-action three fold. You will loose top end and the handling is a bit different. After you get use to it it's AWESOME!!! Lets face it, the trails are not even ridable after 12:00 noon on the weekend. That is when 80% of us can ride. The M 10 can handle the biggest bumps I have ever seen. I can ride all day and my buddys with stock suspensions are back at the cabin. Get the Ohin shocks and you wont be disoppointed. Trust me I have been riding Yamaha a long time and I will never go back to stock pro-action.
 
Here is what I did, I got the shocks and limiter straps out of an XTC andf put them right into my skid. Instant long travel and the same transfer and 0 loss of proformance.

We did the viper shocks on a stock skid on another srx, but haven't tried it out yet. We are probrably going to fit an sc10 skidoo skid underneath my srx. Not sure how it will work, or if anyone else here has tried different skids. My machine is mildly trail ported, vforce reeds, bender cold air, 8bu.custom clutch setup, ripsaw track(144 1.350's), lathed 8 tooth drivers, epi gears and chain. Geared to go about 110.

I want good transfer, and a skid that won't keep breaking on me! A little cushier ride would be nice, but I can handle bumps if the machine can. I have maximum performance tansfer rods also.
 
there is no comparison if you long travel a srx or if you M10 it. I have had 2 m10's in 2 different sleds and it can handle any flippin bump you wanna throw at it. I didnt lose any top speed tho because when i bought it, it came with the big billet wheels. So i had no loss on top end on a suspension that could handle anything. Brand new ones are 1600-2000, i say buy it for 400, great deal. No doubt.
 
I have an Expert X under my sled and it is the best money i have ever spent on anything! My sled still handles just like it did with the No Action, except this time i can hammer through 2 ft moguls with no problems. After riding last weekend with it truley amazing skid. I hit a mound of dirt got quite a bit of air...What landing barely even felt it! Most of the time i have to go back to see if i even left the ground its that smooth. The weight transfer is awesome and if you adjust it right you will get very minimal transfer if thats what you like. Very easy to adjust as well.

This is just what it hink of the Expert i havent riden a m10 so idk how it is, but it seemed the harsher the stuff the more the expert soaked up :die: :bling:
 
The SC10 Skid will be way worse than the proaction - I had a 2000 SC10 II and my proaction rides way better, heck my dad's 97 XTC rode way better than the SC10.
 
Once I took the time to really dial the m10 in it's awesome! I have to wait for my buddy on his 02 viper the trails get beat up and so does he. My only caution is you can't just throw the m10 in your srx and call it a day. It takes deep pockets to set up the entire sled front and back, you may get the skid for $400 but your expense isn't going to end there.

All depends on the set-up!!!! Thats whats nice about an m-10 you can make a couple of adjustments and the old lady loves it! Then change it back to your settings and pound the trail hard! I can tell you exactly what you needed to do to fix those problems....In fact i will...Start by loosening the limiters or removing them. Adjust the rear spring preloads/heights to your weight in the chart. Then turning up the FRA adjust one notch, until it stiffens to your liking. Still pushing in the corners? Increase the center shock spring preload on the m-10 small amounts until you are able to slide it in the corners, this will keep it from grabbing when cornering. When set this way you will need very little ski pressure. Use the weight tranfer blocks that have the largest gap, they tranfer weight better. As for the fox shocks, they work just fine.
