Oil change to Blue Marble

why switching? did the klotz do something you didnt like? wondering cause I just changed from yamalube to klotz

just add it too it,if you drain be careful not too let it all out and get air in there, then you could be in for some problems.....

when I switched thos past weekend I went to my dealer and asked if they had any siphons for sale. kevin (one of the guys that owns and runs it) says hold on a sec. walks out back and comes back saying darrin (one of the mechs) will be out in a sec. I am thinking that is weird. but o well. then out comes darrin with the giant siphon thing (mityvac I think) and says here ya go. shows me how to use it and says it should work well. I was like "thanks I will bring it back as soon as I am done" I thought that was freaking awesome! no charge, and I wasnt even looking to borrow anyhting, I was going to buy! thanks to Pittsburg Motorsports in Pittsburn NH. those guys are awesome!

:2strokes: 03viperguy, I ran out of yamalube last season and finished w/ a litre of Klotz. I'm going to bl mar because of all the good things I've read about it. I think that Klotz is very good oil and it would use it if not for bl mar. ;)!

i also just switched to blue marble this season, and i guess it's not synthetic-- it's a highly refined mineral oil. i still had some yamalube in the tank so i pumped out as much as i could with a lower end unit pump and refilled it with BM.

haven't noticed any performance gains yet, but they say you won't until a couple of tankfuls. i have noticed less smoke- except for cold starts, and it doesn't stink as bad as yamalube does.

Same here,I did the switch.Only have 160miles this season though.Less smoke, doesn't stink. We will see how this oil is in time.

I switched from yamalube to klotz. I didn't siphen anything. I started adding the klotz to the half of tank of yamahalube that was left. So far I have had no problems. why would you have to drain the old oil before adding the synthetic?

you dont have to, I just wanted to. have soem other sleds it could be used it, so I didnt want to wait to run down on yamalube.

Buch of hype

Your not going to either, thats B.S.!!!! If they lie about the performance gains they probably are lying about the protection ability too! I noticed that they don't advertise film strength rating, not a good sign. Amsoil and Klotz both advertise there film ratings, and if marble was as good or better they would use it as a selling point, I'm certain of that. I used marble and was not impressed with the protection, smoke was gone though.

I ran about 300 miles on the motor with yamalube for break-in, then switched to marble. In the two years I ran it smoke was low, and piston deposits/exhaust valve build-up were excelent, as advertized. No power increase was noticed, clutching stayed the same. I tore down the engine at 3300 miles, and exhaust side of rings on every cylinder showed alot of cupping. Also my cylinders were out of round .0012", Pissed me off bigtime, cause I have been taking down two strokes for alot of years and this is for sure excessive wear for 3300 miles! My Ski-doo had less wear at 6000 miles. There was minimal scuffing, which usually isn't caused buy the oil, it's particles and snowdust thats attributed to these type of markings. I run my machines fairly hot, but there were no signs of detonation/overheating, which would cause ring land warpage, so why the excessive ring wear? I believe the oil vaporizes at a lower temp than synthetics, hence the low smoke. My theory is that around the exhaust port you do not have the protection you would with a synthetic. In addition, a personal friend/race team that used to use marble, Had the same results, and has since stopped using this product.
