Hey guys, I have a quick question. My cousin just picked up a 97 mach Z 800 and thinks he will smoke my 01 srx 700. What do you guys think, I picked up the front of the sled and it seemed pretty heavy. What do these dyno at? I asked around and nobody knew. There best guess was 130-140. I personally think I will get him. Both sleds are stock except studding. :yam:

i heard they are 140HP in general, i think it takes an 800 from polaris or acrtic cat to equal the HP of an srx. the mach-z is a heavy pig. much mure noticeable than a srx. i dont have the weights but the srx is like 533 and i think the z is like 565 something or more.

If that Z is in good condition and setup well, you have your hands full with it. Those sleds were 150 hp and fast in the long run. But the SRX is no slough either.

My guess is that it´s close between you two. With minor mods you can get a 170 hp out of that triple Z. Well setup 800 Z´s still kick the new Z´s butt...

i agree, they are a strong 150 hp. like comparing the old max 4 800, they made hp but needed to be in the right hands to fly

i wonder why doo went back to twins if the tripples ran so good? i remember when the formula 3 tripple 600 was a hot sled on the trail about 10 years ago

wow!! i forgot this muscle sled came tripple tripple from the factory as well. to me seems like this sleds name feels like it fell off the face of the planet.

they were strong, but not the best lasting motor, like current doos, crank proplems and such

different problems I think, the bottom ends on the new ones seem to be sturdier now that they have the bearing cages sorted, but the pistons/rings seem to be flakier than ever.

allwell, what can you doo?

MACH Z FLY. AND JUST YOUR LUCK ITS A 97 WHICH WAS FASTEST YEAR and first 800 CC. THEY ARE 150 H.P. ALL DAY LONG AND THE 97 HAD THE OLDER CHASSIS WHICH WERE WAY BETTER FOR DRAG RACING. BETTER HAVE YOUR SRX SHARP !! 3:16 (tony)

Damn...should be a good one. I'll let you guys know. Hope fully it will be :die: MACH Z.......so I can shut him up. :yam:

I had a 96 for a few seasons. Took it on the trails once and was sore as hell the next day. It was a pig. A very fast but heavy pig. I ice raced it in local radar runs for a season or two and then sold it. It was a very strong running sled and was fun to rip around on a lake with it. I always thought it looked like a big *** shoe though. Bone stock on a hard pack road wide open I saw 110 on it.
If you have yor SRX dialed you should be good to go. I have a 2000 SRX and with just some clutching I know this sled is faster than the Mach was. I have seen 113 on the SRX and I think I had a bad powervalve at the time. Just replaced them so I will see what it does now...

Let us know who wins...

yamigod is right!

Yea I'm rolli'n when they say 165 HP mach 1000?? The old mach's are just as fast, if not faster, and they are 150? and heavy ta boot!! Those old mach's run some good numbers. Bottom line is clutching and jetting, if he's got his set right your probably gonna have a little trouble.

yeah for some reason that day when I would rip it down that road it seemed like it was juming cogs at top end. I tightened the track 3 times until it seemed to tight and it was still doing it. Brought it home...put it in the paper and sold it. Did not look into what it was. I was done with it...

I am on my second srx and only buy yamaha, but anyone who says that an srx can take the mach if it has a little clutching has never driven a mach. They are a big pig that goes like hell in a straight line. Stock for stock my money is on the mach. Look at the bright side though, your srx beats it in every other way and you don't have to wrestle that pig all day long!
