I am looking at buying a 98 SRX600 and I know that all the cranks needed some work. I have 2 questions I was hoping you could help me with....

1. How do you find out if a given sled has been fixed or not? Does Yamaha keep a record of the VIN's? Do dealers have access to some database to check?

2. What exactly was the fix required? Sounds like they needed to be trued and welded....but more details here would be nice. I am kind of a technical gear head....

Thanks in advance!!!!

Also....I am new to this forum and you guys are great....I learned a ton already. ;)! :rocks:

if it was fixed with a Yamaha service part the first thread of the clutch bolt hole was machined out, If you're buying the sled just check the runout and the phase befor eyou buy it, if its still good it has a good crank, all the 98 cranks wwere not bad

Do you check run out by just measuring it on the primary clutch?

Also unsure what you mean about the last thread being machined out? Can you give me a bit more detail?

This sled has only 220 miles on it. So I am unsure if I am confident that the sled has been given its ultimate trial yet so I don't want to be the one to find out....

Thanks...
