Are pipes on a Viper louder than an aftermarket can?
I'm considering buying a set of CPR's. I currently have an MBRP trail can.
Curious of the sound differences.

It all depends on the silencers on the pipes.I would say the cpr pipes are quiter than your mbrp can.

I've had both...and yes, the CPR's are quieter.

Also being from Maine, I would hold out for the quietest set of pipes you can get your hands on. Look for more strict enforcement this year on most of the sled laws, including exhaust modification. I was stopped by a Warden this weekend for a reg. check and one of my riding buddies was warned because he had no #'s on his new summit x 800 (no more temp. stickers in Maine!). The warden went on to explain "they" are really going to crack down this season. This was the first time in 16 years that I have been checked by a warden on the trail in Maine.
I have a set of SLP quiets on my MM, and hear the SLP's for the Viper are also very quiet (and great on power too).

My g/f's Viper has the MBRP race can, mine has Bender triple pipes, hers is louder and has a nicer sound at WOT.
The pipes sound better at idle to just before the clutch engages.
Just my two cents.

My dads viper has bender pipes, and my viper has a mbrp can, the pipes are a more deaper better sound i think, the can is jsut loud and screamy which sounds good too, at about 70 mph and 7000 rpms you crack the throttle and the mbrp can sounds wicked!!!!
