I have an 03 viper that I made an ER and an 04 ER from the factory (black). BOTH SLEDS ate the snowflaps while I was driving in REVERSE!!!! I went to Yamaha and bought another snowflap and the ER ate that one too... is there the WRONG snowflap OR do I have to cut it in HALF to eliminate the track studs catching and eating ANOTHER FLAP????? i did same thing-- backed up in some crusty snow and it really stuffed my flap up underneath and i never noticed, got down the trail about a mile and my high temp warning light came on. i had just cleaned the carbs the week before, so i says- here we go- i must have missed a few air bubbles when bleeding the coolant. plus there was zero powder on the trail for cooling- frozen hardpack. so while i was letting it cool down i went to feel how hot the rear heat exchanger was, and that flap was stuffed right up under there- covering it! i was like WTF!! but it just goes to show how important that rear exchanger is in poor snow conditions. maybe if the flap was shorter it wouldn't have stuck in there!!?

when you poprivet the flap on put a piece of aluminum behind it that helps keep it out.

My Sled
Well, I don't have that problem, because mine is a 2003 Viper (blue), with no reverse and my mudd flap is holding up great. My dad has the same problem on his 2004 Ski-Doo MXZ 600 H.O. S.D.I. He is always wondering if he should replace his old and nasty mudd flap or just leave it the way it is.

Your #1 performance shop!
Go to the hardware store and buy a piece of nylon strap long enough to run around your bumper in the center and down about 3/4 of the way of your snow flap so it can't get pushed back into the track. Pop rivet it to the snow flap.

Get A Flap For A 98 Venture. Its A Short One. Wont Get Sucked In, But It Will Also Keep Your Buddies Back A Ways. My 1.5 Has A Rather Large Rooster Behind It Going Down The Trail.
my buddies are ALWAYS back a ways!!!! Thats because I drive it like I stole it and they cannot keep up with me!!!! The venture theory was what I was looking for.. A retainer from Richirich and a short flap SHOULD do the trick!!! Thanks guys!!! Gary Oles nosboy
