51/37 vs 51/43

I was just wondering something, are you better off to work the SRX harder, meaning should I maybe use a 51/43 and make here work, I'm using a 51/37 with 8bu00s, curiousity killed the cat.lol. What do you think.
 

What rpms are you pulling from holeshot to top speed, i was using an advantedge 51/37,which is more like 55/40, with WWW and weights loaded with both 4.5g rivets, green sec at 70deg and was perfect on holeshot at 8100 rpms but top end was like 8700..........will be trying a stock RX1 51/43 to see if that helps and might get 5.0 rivets for the tip.............James
 
I'm pulling the correct rpms all the way through but it almost feels like its not working hard enough. How are the trails up there reaper, I haven't talked to chuck lately, does he have the viper out yet? I was up there last week, we ran in Belle Valley, I was getting 111 on the gun in the field, Matteau was hitting 115, not sure if you know him or not, it was about 2000 feet, we'll have to hook up some time, I'll be moving back home within the year. take care.

Trails are not open yet, Chuck has not got the sled out yet, he was thinking of trading for a 2001 MMax over at Tri-Town Motorsports......James
 
Theres a nice apex mountain in the dealer here, can't justify paying 15000 bucks for something you can't use, winters aren't like they use to be.
 
with 8bu-00's you need a shallower finish on helix because you have NO tip weight. I dont understand why everyone try's to use a 500-600ft weight for top speed runs? If you want topend, go to a 8dn-20 or something close to that profile.
 
I RUN 8BU IN MY 2002 SRX FOR 1 MILE SNO DRAGS AND THEY NEVER STOP PULLING, GUESS I HAVE THE RIGHT SET-UP. DUDE, ON 660 ON ICE WITH MY 00SRX WITH 8BU I RAN THE 51-43 SET-UP IN 660 RAN 97.9 ON GPS. I GONNA TRY STEP,IN UP TO A 51-45 ON ICE WITH 21-40 GEARING IN 660. NOW I REALIZE YOU RUN 2000, BUY I RUN THAT ON SNO WITH MY 02 SRX WITH 8BU WITH A 50-40 IN 3-6 TWIST!! TALK ABOUT A FUN SLED TO RACE F-7,s with. !! 3:16 (TONY)

whats the blistering topspeed you acheived in this 1 mile run?
 
Yammiegod - are you able to get on V-Max 4 yet? - I left you a PM - wondered if you still had any alumunum ski's?
 
Deeker, i keep forgetting to get new pictures on my working log post, now have the longtravel/widen front and lontravel/longtrack back with 136. I managed just 103 on gun this year but i think i will improve a bit by getting the top end rpms in check, but to be honest top end not my thing anymore.....James
 
HEY DON, ITS NOT WHAT YOU KNOW, ITS WHAT DO I KNOW lol !!!!! THEY WORK, DON,T KNOW TOP SPEED YET , BUT WILL HAVE GPS ON IF WE EVER CAN GET OUT. WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A HUGE MILD WINTER HERE. I WOULD NOT RUN ANYTHING BUT 8BU,s. two srx,S AND TWO VMAX 4 800,s WORK GREAT. REMEBER THOUGH MY SNOWMOBILEING CONSIST OF ICE RACING, GRASS RACINGM AND DRIVING 5 MINUTES TOO OUR AIR STRIP. I HAVE NO INTREST IN BACK SHIFT, OR COMING OUT OF CORNERS. MY RIDEING IS 500, 660, 200 F.T. AT A TIME. 8BU,s were made for that!!

I run a Bender 51/37 with 8bu's also. I get exactly the same impression where the machine feels like it's not working hard enough. I am running 8450 rpms.

I saw Chuck last winter while he was ice-fishing...he didn't seem to be the speed demon I know...he was actually talking about a VK 540!!
 
Ya tell me about it, i move to town, he get's me all hyped up about getting back into sledding and now he's just not into it, the jerk, LOL, i am still trying to get his a$$ out.........James
 
Yes, i didn't go last year for the first time in like 5 yrs, let me know, we can hook up, oh by the way not to be jerk but it's been snowing most of the afternoon and comming down pretty good right now, maybe if i down a little dance in my office it will stay snow
