#1 and # 2 Cylinders are leaking oil from the bottom of the power valves onto the exhaust manifolds, is this something serious ? i'm leaving tonight for a 3 day trip and don't want to damage the valves or cables. It's not a lot of oil but was wandering if i should take another sled

have you ever cleaned them??? it could just be the gasket.....If you have been cleaning them and havn't replaced the gasket then after a few times you can run into this problem..... Just make sure the alan bolt it tight/snug...don't lean on those bolts you will break them. snug/tight. what is leaking on the exhaust is a carbon residue.... you shouldn't have a problem......it you haven'tbeen cleaning the valves chances are if the sled has some miles the cable has already pulled out.....in this case you can ride it but I would hold it wide open very long... I found my 2000 srx needed three valves cause I bought it with 2200 miles and never checked till 4500 miles. all cables had pulled through. not sure how long it was like that..hope this helps

rock on!

One trick I have done over the years is to add just a bit of silicone around the edge of the pv tower to stop the leak.I've seen new gaskets leak so its a common thing,at least from the SRX's I've seen around here.

Same issue!

I just got my SRX and two of the cable housings are real oily! I plan to take them apart and check it out but haven't had time yet. I went riding with a friend who has rode a 98 before and he says it has about half the power of what it should. I believe it as it will hardly outrun my stock440 liquid Fuji  I'm wondering if my cables have pulled through? Does this break the power valve, wreck the cable, or both? Can someone please tell me the basics of how the powervalves work and why? Sorry; just learning  700

for powervalve operation and maintenance, do a search. Myself and others have covered this one to death.
