okay guys i blew my mag side piston (basically melted)on the weekend and the dealer wantS 1200 buck to replace the cylinder and put new pistons and rings on all 3 cylinders. ALot of MONEY AND COULD ONLY LAST 20 HOURS (WARRANTIES IF FOR 20HRS). NOW WOULD IT BE BETTER TO SELL THE SLED AS IS (AND IF SO HOW MUCH) OR PART THE THING OUT, ALL THIS WOULD BE AFTER I BUY A NEW FOUR STROKER.I LOVE THE SRX BUT JUST SEEMS TOO MUCH TO SPEND IF I PLAN ON SELLIN IT NEXT SEASON. DON'T KNOW WHAT TOO DO? BOUGHT THE THING 2 YEARS AGO FOR 2500 CANADIAN FROM A GUY AT WORK.

ANY COMMENTS WOULD HELP

THANKS
JP

i have a new jug for you 100 bucks than buy some spi pistons and rings that come with pins and clips for 100 each.

I COULD BUT I DON'T WANT TO BREAK DOWN ON THE LAKE AGAIN, NOT GOOD. nOT SURE WHAT TO DO THOUGH. IF THE DEALER CAN NOT GIVE A GOOD WARRANTY THEN IF I DO IT I WILL MOST LIKEY BREAK DOWN AGAIN AND PAY ANOTHER 500 BUCKS.

Try doing it yourself. You will be suprised by how simple an engine really is. There are plenty of people here to help you if you run into a snag.

try pulling the carbs and check the boals for bad gas first if you can find out the reason it blew you will be ahead.

I KNOW I KNOW TY GUYS ARE ALWAYS THERE FOR ME WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG. JUST NOT SURE IF IT BENT THE CRANK OR CAUSED ANY OTHER DAMAGE CAUSE THE PISTON TOP MELTED AND PART OF THE TOP OF THE PISTON IS MISSING, AND HALF OF THE TOP RING IS MISSING? CAN THEY GOES INTO THE CRANK AND HOW DO U TELL IF THE CRANK IS BENT? THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE CRANK MUST BE FREE OF ALL FOREIGN ITEMS, HE SAID ONE PEICE OF MY CLYLINDER CAN BLOW THE BEARING.

I DID I FOUND OUT THAT THE MAG SIDE CARB WAS FROZEN,
( BOUGHT IT IN THE CABIN AND LET IT THAW OUT) IT WAS PLUS 1 THE FIRST DAY AND THE NEXT NITE IT GOT TO MINUS 20, AND FORGOT TO ADD GAS LINE ANTIFREEZE. BUT NOTICED QUITE A BIT OF WATER ON THE FLOAT AND ON THE SURFACE OF THE SLIDE.ALL THE OTHER CARBS LOOKED GOOD WITHOUT ANY WATER

Make sure your cyl head is good!!!
I bet you got some divet in it !!!
If so you may need a new one of them to or atleast you will need to smooth the doom off!!!

Pull your top end off then use parts cleaner an air gun and a vacum cleaner to get the junk out of the bottom end!!!

Make sure you set your ring end gap!!!
Make sure you bleed your cooling system!!! (lift back of sled and open up bleeder screw) It is in the back under the seat you have to remove the seat!!!

I bet you could find the parts to do this on here for $2-$400

Go ahead and do it we will help
Good luck
