exhaust temps

I ran a RacePak gage on my CPR Viper and loved it. My set up would run 1200/1250 at WOT, I personally would not want to run much hotter than that for any type of long pull but I will let the experts here decide what you can get away with.

Safe exhaust temps vary with probe placement. Get the piston wash perfect then check what temp that gives you, then you know the safe temp for your sled.

erik b is correct. Egts are only a guide to what your cylinder is doing. Get your wash right, look at the plug at the ground strap to see where the heat is, and then look at your temps on the gauge for reference. We run Digitrons.

Do you guys really pull of youre head, looking for wash after every change of jets, or driving conditions??

No you buy a good bendable light and rotate the piston down to the bottom and look for the babyfingernail size wash on the 10 and 2oclock position..this is only after a wide open burst of 30 sec...hit the kill switch and hold throttle open till stopped :yam:
