Hey guys, Im going to lighten up my 2002 Mountain max with new 144" rails and lightweight Arms and stuff, I wondered if I should upgrade to 8" rear wheels, will this allow better acceleration? easier track turning? what is the benefit from it? I heard one person said it made his machine slower but others say it's good. Also should I upgrade to 9" drivers as well or keep the 8's? I think larger sprockets and wheels will make my track turn easier but I want some realtime feedback, Also wondered about making my rear top big wheels, larger also, is this all good? please give me some opinions, Thanks
 
do you have a drop n roll to get the 9s in there or do you run a shorter lug track? I run 9s w/ a DnR on aftermarket tunnel. Gives me more gearing options and a lower approach angle for climbin. As for the rear wheels not much gain over stock and you have to piss w/ the offset rear axle to get em to fit. Going 10 in the back will let you run more track length if thats what you lookin for. You may gain some reduction in rolling resistance w/ the 9s and big wheel in back, but I don't tink you'll notice.

You climbin that thing or just racin?
 
I want the improvement for mostly racing, although i drive this sled all the time and hilll climb but mainly im looking for performance gains in drag racing, I will trim my track to 1.75" and put in 9 tooth drivers and the 8" rear wheels all the one time with new billet rails made to accept the 8" rear wheels, I will do this if someone can tell me it would benefit me for drag racing 1/8 mile with my 144" track.
