I have a 99 SRX 600. When I ride it, the headlight will alsudden turn off then come back on. The tailight and gauge lights will stay lit so its just the headlight that is doing it. When it shuts off I tried both high and low beam and neither will work. Anyone have any suggestions? Its hard to diagnose because its intermittent. I thought about just trying a new buld but Iv always believed that when a bulb burns out, it burns out! plus the dealer wants $40.

Iv briefly traced the wires and checked the connector with no solution, I hope the wire isnt wore through somewhere??? hoping someone has had a similar problem and for it to be an easy fix.

The usual place for the wires to rub through on older machines is where they lay in the belly pan under the engine. Disconnect the main harness, undo all the clips, tie a string on the end of the harness and pull it back out behind the engine leaving the string secured to the hood somewhere. Inspect the harness, fix the rub-through, and cover the part of the harness that goes under the engine with some plastic automotive loom. Then use the string to pull the harness back under the engine and reconnect.
