I have a 96 vmax xt and i am having trubles with the machine. This machine is shaving the top of the belts off at top end and i can not figure out why. i have aligned the cluches, checked the motor mounts, the offset, center to center distance and i don't know what is happening. if anyone has a sujestion i would apresiate it.

shaveing the tops off? do u have a pic? maybe its ur clutch gard or the rivits for the spark plug cady? did u recently put one of thoes on? a pic of the belt would help

im not too sure on that but check the speedo cable gaurd under neeth teh clucth to make shure the bely isnt hittin it. u could have cought it and pulled it up when changing a belt otehr then taht and the clucth garud hittin it i dont see any otehr things that would cause that. it def looks liek its hittin somthing, and doesnt look liek a clutch misalinment.

I know on my vmax that it is really close between the belt and the footguard.
i have check the distance between the belt guard and all around the clutches and this is atleast an inch everywhere.

What kind of belts are you using? Stock specs call for stock belts.
I would check your sheave faces, they may have some grooving, cause too much pressure on the very top of the belt.
Also, if your clutches are worn, they can cause all sorts of problems. Look for grooving in the weights, and flat rollers.
