I just purchased an '02 Viper in "like new" condition. The stock .92" track was drilled for 72 studs up the middle (female riddin, only 450 miles), however, only 48 studs were installed. Two studs every other section, with an open hole drilled in the others.
I typically run deeper tracks and ride mostly off-tail. I will install a 1.5" ripsaw next season.
Question
Will I damage the track if I run this 48 or 72 stud set-up??? I would think their would be too much stress on each stud. Would I be better off removing all the studs?
I would rather not install more studs, since I will be removing the track anyway. Not to mention, the current pattern may not ideally work with a 144 studs.
Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't run a track with only 48 studs in it. Way too much stress, put more in if you can. On one hand if you are going to replace the track who cares, but you don't want to change a front heat exchanger out, major PITA!! Take the studs out if you do not want to buy more. Running with the empty holes is not a problem.
