As i have read, it seems the SXR's to buy are the 2000-2002 SRX's as they have the most HP. Are there any common problems with these sleds? I know they sound sweet and haul ***.

What are some simple mods most people do to them?

I hear that silencers take away hp, i think i would look for a used one, and try it out, and if i know i was to race someone, swap the stock one back in.

But I would like to get some sound or video clips of stock SRX's, ones with MBRP can, Bender, Hauck Stingers, Dynoport etc.

Mainly would like to hear MBRP Bender and Hauck as they seem to be most popular, but if you have anything, post it as it would be most appreciated. Thank you

the 98-99 srx is fast also and can usually be a really good deal. The 98 had a crank problem but they have all been fixed usually within the first year they were made.2001 has different hand/thumb warmer controls/2002 has the engine shutoff thing if it runs to lean I think. As far a Im concerned there all good and there all very fast so long as it has been taken care of. My last sled was a Polaris and the Yamaha I have now is a much better quality sled. :yam:

how do they 98-99 SRX's compare with the 00-02 SRX's in a race considering the 98-99 were down on power compared to the 00's and newer.

I'm riding an '01. I Put up dated Viper shocks on the rear only and flipped over the front shock mounts. It rides really good now. I've rode an F7 and a Ski-Doo 800 REV. The SRX seems significantly more stable and in control to me. Also running Woody's dually 8" carbides on the front and 192 Extreme Max trail studs. The twins seem to have real strong mid range power. The SRX pulls hard from start to top end. I have a Bender silencer that I've been swaping in and out with the stock one. It does seem to give it a little more snort on low end. I also have a Team Roller secondary that I have been swaping in and out to compare. It's definitely gives much better up and back shift than stock clutch. Been working on a set of two speed heelclickers in the primary. Got the 40-20's. The egagment is too high and haven't been able to get it down. These things pull hard from launch up to about 90mph. On the top end, they lug the engine down off the peak rpm by a couple hundred r's. Haven't figured this out yet. Just got an Advantedge roller secondary last week. Put it in with a silver spring and did a little testing yesterday. Wouldn't pull much over 8,000 and still lugs down top end. Team seems better so far but, it was 58 degrees yesterday so will try again when it gets colder. Got 2,000 miles on the original drive belt and is still usable. I take good care of my stuff, haven't had any trouble at all with the SRX. As for gas milage, on a 75 mile ditch ride...I used 6 gallons of gas, the F7 took 7.5 gallons and the 800 Ski-Doos were looking for a gas station. I've had this sled for a little over a year and am liking it more all the time.

Likely more than you wanted to know. Just trying to help.

thanks for the info, so looks like first choice would be an 01 if i can find one for a good price. otherwise it will be 00 or 02, then the 98-99's.

Could anyone get a video clip of their sleds with silencers and whatnot. Thanks

wel, I have the dynoport on my 99 srx 700, but everyone else in my riding group own purple bombs......so based on their idiocy, I dont let them touch my yammy.....if they want the purple pigs, they can have em.....

If I let them drive the yammy, then I'd be surrounded by yammys....I like having the only quality sled in the group....and when we stop, everyone asks about the srx.....

So yeah, sorry for the ramble, but that is why I dont have a sound clip....well, that and the lack of a camcorder.....

I can vouch for the fact that the dyno sounds really sweet, but thats while on the sled.....I haven't heard it go past me, so hard to give an accurate opinion.

I have a video of my 99 SRX 600 with a bender can. It's on my home computer, i'll post it at lunch.

i just visited e bay and there are several srx's listed. i'm not sure of you're location but these are in michigan and wisconsin i think. i'll see if i can get some sound samples from my stingers. if i dont have any on file it might be awhile because right now i have zero snow and it hit 51 degrees w/heavy rain. needeless to say grooming has been suspended through most of the state until snow flies.

so im off to sacrifice a chicken and pray to the snow gods.

PM me your email address... everytime i try to post my file to putfile, it's doing maitenence, i'll just email it to you.

I would go for a 98 srx. I ride with a bunch of guys and there are 6 srx's total. ranging from 98-02. They all have something done to their motors, but the 98 by far runs the best and has never lost a race to the other 5.

I've got a 2000 SRX I'm getting ready to sell. It's got a Hauck #4 Clutch kit, tempaflow, long travelled rear suspention, and Camoplast 1.25" track on it. Approximately 4,000 miles. The sled looks and runs awsome!!!! The only reason I'm selling it is because I want to try one of the new four stroke models. I'm located in central IL.
