I have a mm700. when i go to change the jets, i see that the #1 carb has a bigger size jet than the others. why is this?

i think it has to do w/the pto side burning hotter/colder. something like that?

Coolant comes in one side of the motor cold, so that cylinder would run colder.

isn't the compression on #1 higher for some reason?

The MM has straight compression across all 3 cyl. This requires staggered jetting [145, (2) 143.8]. The Viper on the other hand has staggered compression (lower on the PTO side) allowing it to run straight jetting (156.3).
It has to do with the ability of the PTO side cylinder transfer ports not being able to pull the fuel like the other two can I believe. It is also a coolant enhancer for the far cylinder.
