I'm not really liking the side pads on my 98 SRX seat. They won't let me put my boots fully on the running boards when I ride with my feet under me to absorb trail bumps. If I replace the seat cover can I just take the pads out or are they molded into the main seat foam? Is there a good reason they put these pads on there? Will a 97-98 mountain max seat cover fit? Thanks, 700

The side pad are just glued onto the seat so if you want to its no big deal to take them off.I've considered doing myself for the exact same reason, damn narrow running boards.

What fits?
The catalogs list covers for 97-98 Vmax XT/XTC and mountain max without side pads. Will this cover fit the SRX seat and have the same rear compartment and taillight? I've been looking for pictures but without much luck. 700

actually the pads are in the cover, there is a plastic brace on each side that is riveted to the main seat pan, just remove the rivets and the plastic braces and the vmax seat cover will be a direct replacement. I did this on my srx seat when I made it all black, easy to do. just use a electric staple gun and its simple swap.

Thanks Guys!
This is what I thought but wanted to hear from someone who had done it. As for the compartment, my original seat doesn't have the turn latches either so no loss. My old cover is trashed so I will be ordring a new one soon 700
