anyone have knowledge of ride difference between these. I'm looking at a 03 viper er (i'm getting old) or a 04 viper S (I think I'm still young) Performence wise is the "S" a lot better sled or will I never notice a difference? I don't ride alot and I'm coming off a vmax 600 trip-so both obviouly better. My current sled has rev. and elec start (along with 9500 miles) so I hate to give that up. but would for greater performence. thanks

I went thru the same delema... was coming off a VMax 600 that was two years old. As I recall, the Viper S rode a lot stiffer than the Viper ER. I would assume the S could be adjusted softer. I did the ER, in black, fun fast sled. I'm 45 and disabled, I can't pull start a sled and I can't lift the back of the sled. Couldn't live without the electric start and reverse.

thanks

thank you Chris. That is just the answer I was looking for. I turn 40 this month.
Just you stating the obvious was well I sure don't want to do that either.
thanks again. good riding--if you have snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go for the S - rides better, easier to pull over than the older Vipers - I think they redesigned the recoil for 04. The S does not ride stiff at all. And actually has position sensitive shocks in rear skid for a better ride.

The Viper S rides WAY better than the 03' ER. It is not available w/ electric start or reverse but it can be put on it. Electric start shouldn't be needed....you can pull it over with 1 hand in zero degree temps and it will start on the 2nd or 3rd pull every time.

you can pull it over with one hand.... I can't....

I considered the S and adding electric start and reverse then cost started to become an issue....

Viper Tom,
any snow in gaylord or up heading toward the bridge as of now?

We got maybe 6" or so this week. The trails are snow covered but very icey in the corners. If we don't see any more snow fall this weekend the trails will be shot by Monday. Off trail is still decent but there is not much base so you have to watch where your going.
