i looked on the tech pages and didnt find any set-ups for this sled. anyone out there know any good combos. if so i will buy weights and helix if ya got em, thanx.................jim
Change the tip rivet in the primary weights to a 3.6 gram. Costs about $5 & it will hit 8600 rpm all day long.

Tripletriple, Are you like my clone or something? I ride an '01 SRX and my son has a '01 SXR600. Was looking here for the rpm on the 600 and ran accross this post. Looks like 8,600.
Some information from my tuning on my son's 600:
We put my stock 8dn-20 from my SRX in the 600 bare...no rivets and a stock spring. He said he liked it real well...much better than his stock weights. I never rode it with these weights in it so, I don't know what rpm it ran at.
Took the 8dn-20's out and put the stock ones back in 3.6 gram rivets in both holes like Turk suggested to you. Ran it today on smooth ice with about 1" of snow. Twists up close to 9,000--like you also said you see---and dropped to about 8,300 to 8,400 wide open. Hit 100mph +according to the speedo. It has a stock 47 helix and red spring. Was set at 70 and I backed it off to 50 to try to get the r's down a little but, didn't make any difference. Still over revs.
My plan from here is to replace the center rivet with a 4.5 gram and put the helix back to 70 or a little more if needed.
Our snow all melted today and the dealer is out of 4.5 gram rivets so, it will likely be a while before I can test again to provide results.
Good luck.

No, Vmax's have larger rollers. You'd have to change the rollers to set it up like a SX600...

why do they have larger rollers? whats the difference clutching wise form a 00 sxr 600 and an 02 vmax 600? they feel different with the same motors. both are electric and reverse
http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles/AAATuning Chart/Specs.htm
differences are:
SXR-----------VMAX
10.3st/13.9---10.3al/13.9-------Rivets inner/outer
14.5mm-------15mm------------Rollers
20/39---------21/39------------Gearing
differences are:

20/39---------21/39------------Gearing

Well, this is my take on it, but I'm no expert and still learning.
The higher overall rivet wieght gives the SXR more belt pressure and better backshift. The smaller rollers on the SXR also add belt pressure, so now there is two factors increasing belt pressure. The rollers may affect something else, but I haven't picked that info up yet. The other difference is the gearing. SXR=1.95:1 Vmax=1.85:1 Same affect as your vehicle.
Now, someone post and fill in the holes.
