I have a 98 500 that likes lots of oil, this is the 2nd pump , the first one quit all together. now this one takes 65 miles before the oil light comes on from plum full . what would the correct fuel to oil ratio be. like 40 to 1 ? I plan to start mixing the oil in with the fuel . any help would be greatly apperciated. Thanks Rick M

Your mix should be 50:1. It's easy to check. Fill the sled with gas and oil. Take it in a trip. Fill it again with gas and oil. Keep track of exactly how much gas and oil are used. Do a bit of math and it should be around 50:1. Yours sounds like 25:1. Adjust the cable on the pump so the marks on the pump line up. Weather doesn't play into this mix because harder on the throttle means more gas and more oil.

Make sure the oil pump cable is seated in the throttle block all the way. Do a search on "oil pump setting" and you should get some good reading, like this one:

I know it's not the same sled, but it should be similar to yours. By the way, the setting procedure will be thw same for 600 twins of the same year as well.
