Last year I had my VMax clutched to top out at 8400 - 8500. Thing was working great. Now.... I was out on it yesterday. When ya hammer on it, it jumps up to 8500 - 8700 then slowly drops down to around 8000 as it accelerates. Safe to assume either worn belt or dirty clutch causes this? I thought no to the belt at first as it was fine at the end of the season last year. If it is dirty clutch, what the heck I gotta do to get it cleaned? Is there something I should do to this unit each season? I have in the past had some issues with the secondary sticking the belt down in the sheves about an inch, is that related?
