Here is a picture of the reed valve on the mag side of the engine notice the center petal is missing some material and seems to be a different colour / texture in the center.
Is this cause for concern? Should it be replaced or I'm worrying about nothing?

you should replace it there only like $8 bucks each.

sometimes if a sled backfires they will break or chip I have seen it before.My buddies mod sled backfired and blew pieces into the carbs.

That looks like heat damage. Likely a backfire like pro said.

i had one of mine looking like that last year, and another cylinder had a cracked petal.... i replaced with boysen reeds.....
probably back fire/heat issue..... i am not sure of the expected life of a set of reeds, but mine were 4000 miles old when i replaced them (roughly)

I'm gonna go to the Yamaha dealer tomorow and buy a replacement petal.
Good thing I took them off to have a look.
Sled only has 1000miles on it.
