I heard my brake thumping on my srx when I pulled it. Mr. Sled told me it could possibly be a loose chain. I took off the belt to change it and found the seconday had alot of play and could spin 2 or 3 inches. How do I tighten it? Should I be worried? let me know asap so i can go ride lol.
Loose chain
On the front of the chaincase there is a bolt sticking out it. Back off the lock nut and turn in the bolt till it is snug and retighten. 2-3 inches is too much slack. You may have to pull the muffler to get to it.

chain
I tightened that bolt till it was glove tight and took a wrench and tightened it about 5 full turns and it still has almost the same slack. The secondary will wiggle a little if you just push and pull it lightly, like a normal sled, but if you about some more force with your hands it'll turn about 2 inches. When you do this the track doesnt move, but if you push it past the 2 inches it will move. On my other srx if you put more force than a jiggle the track moves. Need help, what else could it be?

Check and see if when you use more force to get the secondary to move that 2 inches, that it may be the space in drivers going back and forth between the drive lugs on th track. Be sure to only tighten the chain adjuster finger tight, then tighten the jam nut.
if you have reverse there will be quite a bit of back and forth movement in the chain case or the reverse gear would have a hard time lining up.

3 turns
I put it 3 turns my bad, I accidently wrote 5, but right after I put it back to finger tight. As long as I didnt ride it like that right? Any other ideas on the thumping?

just a guess
but I bet you have a bearing on the jack or drive shaft bad. thats why so much free play so fast, and thats why the thump. But I'm no expert, I wreck more stuff than I fix it seems. Maxdlx

Pull thhe cover.........
A couple springs,a few bolts, drain 8oz. fluid. Check all bearings visible, if nothing. I would pull the chaincase cover, the gaskets reusable. I takes 30 minutes. For peace of mind. Soc

brake
when the secondary moves, so does the brake disk, so if anything it's beyond that.
