after getting spanked by my buddy on a new REV 800ho he borrowed from his brother in law for the entire season!!!! I needed to fix the problem.

Turk gave me ( and everyone else asking) a simple clutch setup

I added a 51/43 helix . and replaced heel clutch weights with 4.5g ( heavier)

unbelievable difference in performance

smoked 3 Revs. even with one aweful 3 sled behind start,I caught up in a matter of seconds.

later in the day, racing a polaris x edge with pipe. he pulled me on the top end.
I was running close to 9000 rpm on top end.

So, I backed of my red (stock) helix spring from 80 windup to 70 and on the last strait on our way in , I walked away from the polaris at 8500 rpm. hit 115 on speedo and shut her down and loaded on the trailer.

a great weekend.

Only one problem, my buddy, who I razzzed all year about beating him this season, kept a 5 month secret, his mother in law bought him an APEX !!!

I didn't know untlil i heard it start in his trailer, and he said he had something to show me. ( but i beat the brother in law's rev, so I feel vindicated :o)

now what.... I guess it's nitrous. :2strokes:
I don't have $11,000 :ORC for an apex

Yes, he did #$%&*

pulled to 3 sleds right away, then we seemed pretty close till we shut down.

I have a 1" track, he has a 1.25" and 8 hp on me.
it's quick.
not sure if i can find the difference in setup.
I actually had evidence of the run on video, but i lost my camera on the pine stump run later in the day. (washboards at 85mph for 25miles) - pocket was wide open, camera was gone :o| .

that's actually my other excuse
I was driving at 115mph one handed :o)

I just raced on also and he had at the most 2 sleds lengths ahead of me after about 2500ft. And my clutch was slipping in the bottom end. This week I should take him I think.

Thanks for posting this information. One question, was this setup for blasting away on the Lakes or more of an all around setup?

Curious as I've just reached the 5000 mile mark on my 2001 SRX (stock) and feel its time to play with it :).

Thanks,
Jimmy

you should try 8bu00 weights, they realy rocks for drag!! and if the apex beat you in the top only try some teflon spray on yor hyfax:)

have you tried the 8dn-20weights because I got really good results with those after the 1000ft distance in a race. But I think my main issue is traction so Im putting in more studs.

I thought 8dn-20 is stock
is 8dn-10 stock?
either way, I have stock weights with 4.5's in the heel. ( and tip)
www spring ( 4200 engagement)

red secondary first wound to 80, then 70, best

this is for all around. much, much better midrange. ( my arms are sore from the weekend) and with the lighter windup on secondary, it also pulled well on top end.

I did loose some top end from original stock because I long traveled the suspension, and geared down 1 tooth ( 21T instead of 22)

but i did hit 115 on a plowed road before running out of room.

I may add a few more studs, my new to me ( used) 1" track has 121 down the center. i may add some.

bottom line..... keep the R's below 8500. any more and you are falling off you power curve.

yes i have tryed them, but like the 8bu00 better.. i do alot of dragracing for different distances and found that they are the best for me! they upshift very fast! faster than 8dn20..

well, guess what.
I mossied over to the four stroke section and my buddy had already clutched his brand new apex attack for our weekend. So I feel good about my results

what is the difference between those weights. Better midrange??

i belive the 8bu00 are more agressiv in the start and midrange, its a very agrssive weight! very good for racing, but not as good for trail and boondocking becouse of the poor backshift..
