after a saterday of hard riding in the mountains of alaska in some powder that was well over 5 feet deep this weekend ive decided to go ahead and try a skid/track swap...what ive found available is a 141 mm skid and im wondering....what do you guys think is the biggest paddled track i can fit on this thing running 8 tooth drivers without having to roll the chaincase? id like to try for 2 inch or better or else it just doesnt seem like the whole mod would be worth my while and expenses....any quick help with advice is greatly appreciated!

i was havin some fun for a while highway onramp and gap jumping ;)! but after playing at summit this weekend in all that deep powder im hooked on the deep pow pow and hillclimbs....its just sick conditions!.....do you think going from a 121 to a 144 will be worth my time and effort or should i go further like a 151....and im trying not to roll my chain case but im wondering if i dont and just run 8t drivers and different gearing will that be enough room between the drivers and the front heat exchanger to accomidiate a track with a paddle 2 inch or bigger?

dilemas dilemas...:o|

well i run a 151 and its perfect for me.. 144 and up is decent mtn track with the longer the track obviously being better for climbing and pow.. if u buy rail extensions, get 10 inch extensions and then move the skid back 1.5 inches and slap a 144 on her or if ur goin 151 get a skid from a cat or doo mtn sled... u have to run 8 tooths for any paddle 1.75 or bigger ... if this all sounds like a lot of work get a modded yammi from the anchorage daily news classifieds http://www.adn.com/classified/transportation/820/
they have a ton of MM's in there usually and fer perty cheap... all in all either go for the long track on the SRX or get a MM or other mtn sled (anything except pullyourass) :D good luck man, Steve

track

i would think that you should be able to run a 2" track, it is definately a good idea to put a 141 skid underneath that thing, if you were to put extensions from a 121 to a 141 you may break or bend the rails and extensions, i have seen it numerous times, if you wanted to go with a 151 you could just buy the extensions for a 141 to a 151 which would cut down the length of the extensions by about 5 inches, then they wouldnt be near as likely to bend, you 700 srx should have no problem turning a 151, i am running a viper with a 159, had to lower the gears but it does quite well in the deep stuff.

thanks so much for all the help!...im gathering parts for the skid, track, drivers, gears and tunnel or extension....i like the mountain performance tunnel that comes with rolled chain case......but..im wondering if i can find a rolled chain case without having to buy the tunnel ......
