This is the second time I've had a crank seal go on my SRX and both times they were OEM parts. What I would like to know is is there any other seal that I can buy that would be considered as good or preferably better than stock?

seal

I think that the ome seal would be a better seal. But if you are going through crank seals your problem might lye some where else.Maybe the crank it self. How old how many miles on the seal ???

Crank seals

The engine in my sled is supposed to have around 8000 kms(4800m) (not original engine) 7000 when I bought it.Everything was working fine until it started backfiring and lost compression in the mag side cylinder. It seems that the seals should last better than that!!!!!!!!!!

seal

should be good for 20000km.Thats why I think it's not bad seals but something else .Maybe you should get the crank checked being you have this happen twice now. What ever is wrong was probibley done before you got the motor

That's the bad thing about buying something second hand like a motor from someone your not familiar with, you never really know the real history of it.The crank recall was supposedly done, there were stamp marks on the cases to show that the work was done and the guy I bought it from asured me it was done but the crank runout will be checked again before it goes back together.
