Broken Baffle - Result of Poor Throttle Response?

When taking the pipe off of our 98 Vmax XT 600 I was able to shake out a metal screen, which I am assuming is the baffle....??? There is still a lot rattling around in that pipe, if that screen gets in the wrong spot could this cause poor throttle response?

I doubt thats all that fell apart in the silencer, that could block the exhaust and will definately cause poor performance, find another one............
