All right…gas milage ????
I know that many people here can tell me what I need to do to get this sled from 0-600, 0-1000ft and 0-2000ft in a hurry….but the I’m not racing…well not all the time….most of the time my two srx’s are touring…so with gas prices in Canada at 1.10 a liter gas milage is an issue. 3 miles to gallon increase doesn’t sound like much but think about it…3 miles x 12 gallons is like riding another 36 miles for free…so…The question is what can I do…right now they both average about 13 or so… I have heard that some people have claimed 20+ on an srx 600 but….I find that hard to believe….I’m on seven hundreds 2000 and 2001….I know with a bender clutch kit the 99 srx7 my friend has….can get as much as 17….I’ve seen it…..truth is I’d buy the clutch kits but they are 200.00 each.
I’d like to hear from the guys with 600’s and 700’s to know what I can try…If you have a good set up let me know…I believe clutching can make a huge difference and maybe even gearing down so the sled isn’t pulling such a tall gear. Going to a four stroke isn’t really and option..dont have the cash…plus my sleds look almost new.. and if I can clean up the milage then …who needs a four stroke!

What kinda worked for my xtc6 was i de tuned it a little bit,when i first
got it they had it clutched,, the damn thing wouldn't engage till 4,500-5,000 just sucked the fuel,,put it all back to stock with a little more
in the tip and now she engages right at 3,000 and i get 12-13 mpg now. What a differance it maid.

Wish you would have asked last week. I put around 300 miles on the SRX 600 over the weekend in Eagle River. Didn't pay too much attention to the mileage. All I know is that it was far better than the 5 Polaris sleds I was riding with. By a lot.

Over the weekend I was getting about 12-13 mpg out of my stock SRX 700 with an M-10 and precision skis, both of which add more resistance to the sled. This was considerably better than the 97 600 XTC that was getting 8 mpg.

All I know is that a SRX 700 should be better than an SRX 600 on fuel. and when you say 12-13 mpg, you mean 1 Gallon = 4.55 liters, and 1 mile = 1.6 kilometers?
With the machine all stock and well adjusted (not to rich) you should get good gas mileage with this sled.
Try running your sled stock for a run, Keep your RPM's under 7000 (better fuel mileage when power valves aren't open), not many trails to run high speeds!!!!
Than once you are satisfied with your mileage than change your cluthing and monitor your fuel to see if it's better or worse, and keep changing.

My old Bone 2000 SRX with 10K gets between 14 and 16 depending on how I ride. We did a 480 mile trip two years ago(last real milage it has seen) and I averaged 15.3 if I remember correctly. The other SRX(2001 with 1100miles) was getting just a bit better than me. I was running a Bender clutch kit with a Bender Cold Air Kit and V-ForceII Reeds. Other than that pretty much stock.

converting liters to us gallons so 1 gallon = 3.785 liters.....the 4.55 liter to 1gallon is an imp gallon my calculations are from liters to us gallons. I'm really good about checking it. I have heard that a bended kit was going to improve it but wanted to hear that from someone else.

I'd have to agree with that, My SRX got 13-14 miles to the gallon usually. I'm getting 10 at the best with my Pro-X.

there's alot of stuff clutching wise that can be done, but I don't nkow how well versed you are in clutching, stock shouldn't be to to bad, make sure your valves are clean and can slide freely. make sure your track tension is proper (not to tight) do a couple midrange plug chops and make sure your needles are set to the right spot, running fat in the midrange will cost you efficiency.
