hey guys-
My 98 SRX 600 isn't backshifting real well. After letting off, I can sometimes only get about 7K back on the tach.

Can someone give me a quick lesson on backshifting and the components to look at? Maybe some suggestions on set-up?

Thanks in advance....

your secondary spring may be weak (fatigued) or you have too little preload.
buy a new replacement or play with windup on yours.

easiest trouble shooting would be to add 10 degrees of preload.
take it off, checking to see what holes both spring ends are in. and go one number higher (10 degrees) on either the inner or outer hole.

ie 2 and 6 is 80 degrees of prelaod, 3 and 6 would be 90...

other options include an aftermarket helix with compound angles ( curve in the ramp profile)

look in the clutching section of tech pages to see suggestions on simple clutching upgrades. ( like $1 for drive clutch wieghts) and $30 ish for helix.
cheep for amazing improvements in performance.

Thanks fellas....I'll try the spring first. I have been looking at helix's and they seem to run ~$100 range. Where are you finding the $30 ones?

Try Bruce at CBPerformance ( 2000srx on the board)
very helpful
I think I bought mine used from him for 30 something, maybe his new ones are $45????
still cheaper than 100 :o)
