Can anybody help and tell me what the high or danger reading would be for a Viper 3 into 1 pipe EGT temp reading. Am installing a EGT gauge in to the single pipe.
Gonna try one of those Koso digital jobs and they have a warning temp indicator light. Wondered what to set it at.
Thanks

carefull, a dangerous reading is VERY dependant on where you placed the probe, the exhaust is still burning and getting hotter as it's leaving the cylinder. The only way to know the "dangerous" zone, is to jet it the old fashioned way (plug chops) and monitor the temperature it's showing while you're doing it.

If the exhaust is still burning and getting hotter.... then 1250-1300 would be a low danger reading??? I agree with the checking of plugs/ piston tops.
What would be an ideal local for probe? Planning on placing probe about 3-4" ahead of Y pipe in pipe. Sound about right????
Thanks alot

Get aaen's book. I think it 7-8" from piston skirt or as close to the coveregence of all cylinders. You also need to know the calibration temperature of the probes. Atleast on an analog system.

MY PROBE IS AFTER THE YPIPE ABOUT A INCH PAST WHERE THE PIPE AND THE MANIFOLD CONNECT. 1300 Is The Max I Run It. I Check The Plugs On A Semi Regular Basic And They Always Look Cardboard Brown. Hope I Clould Help

What wire did you use for a power source?
Only problem so far with the Koso EGT gauge.....crap for instructions. Only tell you how to set it, not how to install.
Thanks
