Okay guys Ive been bitten by the race bug with my setup that Im running now.. Its a clutch setup thats supposed to be for trail riding. It seems to work pretty good for racing as well but I know that most of you guys are running something different for racing. Heres my question...
What clutch setup should I run in my 98 srx 700 if I want to be competeing in a 2000ft radar run in the stock class. All I want to do is go as fast as possible. I will run my trail setup if Im going riding for the weekend...

nothing wrong with what you got in there, radar running requires a whole different suspension setup than drag racing, you can gain alot of speed with the right setup. In my testing I've found that you tighten your limiters right up, soften the front spring of the rear skid as soft as you can, tighten up your transfer rods to keep the front end down, the lower you are the faster you are, lower your front trailing arm shocks, I did a couple of these a few weeks ago and gained 5mph, lots of things to do, ask bufalobob he has helped me out. I tried the www, 8dn20, 51/43 and green spring yesterday on the ice track in North Bay and it was close to my 8bu00 setup, more testing today if it warms up, its 20 below celsius today.

so you figure I should be able to compete with my 8dn-20 set up. Thats good. I was told to try running the Red secondary at 80degs if Im not concerned about backshifting and all I want to do is go fast so Im going to give that a try this weekend. When are those races up in north bay?? Are you guys trail riding up there??

The races are this weekend, I live in north bay, not sure if I'll be able to make it yet or not, I tried the setup you have and I found it to be pretty awesome, I found I hooked up better than I do with the 8bu00 weights(on snow), they have a less aggressive upshift and I seemed to launch better with my stock track then I do when I have the 8bu00s in. I'm going to try gearing down today to see if I can top out quicker, I really like that setup, I was impressed.

thanks for your input deeker. I wasnt sure if I had the right clutch setup for a 2000ft radar run because everyone is talking about using different weights for racing then the ones Im using. Im not going to the races up there untill next year. It is the first year for me with the srx and Im still trying to get it dialed in. I think Im getting close though. I plan on going up to Timmins to a buddys cottage maybe mid February. I hear the trails are awesome up there.

When your up in Timmins go to porcupine Lake in south porcupine, theres alot of fast sleds on that lake, watch out for my buddy and his mach z, its fast as hell. later
