Back in 2000 I bought a 1998 Yamaha 700 out of the local paper.
The hood said 700 Triple, Mountain Max, but after registering it I found out it was 1998 700 Venture. Anyways long story made short, I really didn't care. I was happy to have a sled!!
Since then I have done some work to it, and she really gets up and goes.
I have taken it to the mountains (Fernie & Valemont) the past 2 years, and it does o.k.
We are planning another trip this year, and I would like some input on what I can do to the suspension to help it work more like the 2001 & up?

Not really. At that time I really didn't know the difference.
I am fortunate enough to have a neighbour who used to race with the local Yamaha dealer. He set me up with the clutching.
My sled is now called the "Yami-Doo Mountain Venture"

Not sure if this is even possible but, Are you sure it wasnt just registered a venture instead of a mm, becuase they are cheaper and maybe they didnt have the option to write in mm, so they went to the next thing closest. Venture has a long track..
Iv seen this type of thing happen in my area before.., twice actually.

It didn't have the stock decals when I bought it. So I assume he replaced the hood.
I re-painted the hood and added a fe of the stock 99 decals.

oh, well either way it looks awsome!
Nothing wrong with owning a venture!, even if it is a mountain max

its the same sled anyways just a bit harder springs in the suspension and a 2 up seat on the venture.

Each time I have gone to the mountains I have cranked up the limiter straps to get a better approach angle. Unfortunately this creates alot of ski pressure.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to set up this suspension for the mountains?

Could've also bent a tunnel and found a tunnel from a venture. Several different things it could have been. Either way, they are the same frame, just different suspension set ups.
